[B][B]Memulai karir musiknya di era musik Swing bersama Harry James dan Tommy Dorsey, Sinatra menjadi penyanyi solo yang sangat sukses di era 1940-an dan menjadi idola anak muda waktu itu. Di bawah perusahaan rekaman Capitol Records, Sinatra melahirkan beberapa album yang dipuji para kritikus musik, seperti “In the Wee Small Hoursâ€, “Songs For Swingin’ Loversâ€, “Come Fly With Meâ€, dan “Only the Lonelyâ€.

Setelah sukses bersama Capitol Records, Sinatra lalu mendirikan perusahaan rekaman sendiri, Reprise Records, yang juga sukses melahirkan album-albumnya. Di antaranya adalah “Ring-A-Ding-Dingâ€, “Sinatra at the Sandsâ€, dan “Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobimâ€.

Ketika Sinatra berusia lima puluh tahun pada tahun 1965, ia merekam album retrospeksi berjudul September of My Years dan memenangkan Grammy Award Best Album Of The Year. Lagu-lagunya “Strangers in the Night” dan “My Way” meledak di pasaran di tahun 1960. Ia berupaya untuk bertahan di tengah-tengah perubahan selera dalam musik pop.Tapi dengan menurunnya penjualan album-albumnya, serta gagalnya beberapa film yang ia mainkan di pasaran, dan kematian ibunya, ia memutuskan untuk pensiun dari dunia seni pada tahun 1971.

Pada tahun 1973, Sinatra kembali merekam beberapa album. Salah satu lagunya yang menjadi hit adalah "(Theme From) New York, New York[/B][/B]

Sukses di dunia musik kemudian membawa Frank Sinatra untuk merambah dunia film. Sama seperti musiknya, film-film yang dibintangi Sinatra pun sukses.
